Comprehension Questions

There are comprehension questions (CQ), based on Bloom's taxonomy, for the stories listed below. There are three questions in each of six categories: remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, and create. A score of 0, 1, or 2 is assigned for each of the eighteen questions. SALT software contains options to facilitate inserting the CQ scoring template and summarizing the results. However none of the database samples were scored for comprehension so no performance comparison can be made.

CQ have been developed in English for the following stories included in the Narrative Story Retell database.

  • Frog, Where Are You? (Mayer, 1969)
  • Pookins Gets Her Way (Lester, 1987)
  • A Porcupine Named Fluffy (Lester, 1986)
  • Doctor DeSoto (Steig, 1982)
