Document language production in everyday speaking conditions. Collect representative language samples, transcribe them, and compare them to age or grade-matched typical speakers. SALT calculates measures of syntax, semantics, discourse, rate, fluency, and errors to provide profiles of strengths and weaknesses. Use these profiles to facilitate the identification of disordered performance and guide the development of language intervention strategies. SALT can also be used to compare performance in different sampling conditions, in primary and secondary languages, and to track change over time.
SALT Clinical for Windows® and Mac contains a transcription editor, assortment of standard reports, and reference databases of English-fluent, bilingual (Spanish/English), and monolingual Spanish speakers. View case study examples for a quick look at how SALT is used to assess oral language.
The Clinical software license is for a single user. The software may either be activated on one shared computer, e.g., in a lab or shared office space, or on up to two computers used only by one person, e.g., home and office. If it is installed on a network, controls must be in place to restrict access to one user at a time.
The SALT Textbook is included as a PDF file with your software purchase. This textbook provides the conceptual background of LSA, practical guidelines for using SALT, and extensive appendices for quick reference to all the database protocols, transcription conventions, special coding, and more. The software and the PDF textbook are immediately available for download. A printed copy of this book may be purchased separately for $20.
