Contains everything you need to elicit and record narrative stories based on Frog, Where Are You? (Mayer, 1969), Pookins Gets Her Way (Lester, 1987), and A Porcupine Named Fluffy (Lester, 1986). "Eric" (animated character) provides directions, presents the story model, and displays the pages of the book for the child to retell the story. The program comes with a built-in recorder which works well for in-person sessions (child sitting next to you). Using this recorder, the child's story is recorded and the audio file is downloaded onto your computer. If you are working virtually, you will need to use an alternate recorder, e.g., your phone, recorder built into Zoom. Use SALT software (purchased separately) to compare this sample with age and grade-matched samples selected from the Narrative Story Retell database.

In either environment, you are prompted to turn your recorder on and off at appropriate times. And you have the option of uploading the audio file to SALT Services for transcription (fee-based).
