There are several ways to do this:
1. Usually you can just copy and paste the contents of the Word doc into the SALT editor.
2. If that doesn't work, you can save the Word doc as a text file. Do this in Word by selecting "File --> Save As" and selecting Save as type: Plain text (*.txt). You may be asked for the Text encoding. If you are using SALT for other languages you should try keeping the default coding. If your sample uses the standard English character set, select "MS-DOS". This will save the contents of your Word doc as a text file stripping off any hidden characters that SALT is not expecting. The new file will be given the file extension ".txt". SALT transcripts are text files with the file extension ".slt". So the final step is to get the contents from the text file into SALT. There are two ways to do this:
1) Rename the new file, changing the file extension from ".txt" to ".slt". Then open this file in SALT as you would any other SALT transcript file.
2) Open the new text file in a text editor such as Notepad or Wordpad. Then copy and paste the contents into the SALT editor.
