SALT is not scored in the typical sense of the meaning. Rather, the language sample you elicit is transcribed following SALT's transcription conventions. The more you put into the transcript, the more information you get out of it. You have many transcription options and many reports to select from. For example, you may elect to mark all significant pauses (2 seconds or longer) within and between utterances. If you do, SALT produces a report summarizing pause time.
